About Ertalyte® PETP and Ertalyte® TX

1. What is Ertalyte® ?

ertalyte® is a family of unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester based on Polyethylene terephthalate (PET-P) products. The specific properties of virgin crystalline PET make it especially suitable for the manufacture of mechanical precision parts must endure high loads and wear conditions. It is characterized as having excellent dimensional stability coupled with excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high strength, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions. Ertalyte®'s continuous service temperature is 210°F (100°C) and its melting point is almost 150°F higher than acetals. It retains significantly more of its original strength up to 180°F (85°C) than nylon or Acetal. For food-grade PET-P, Ertalyte® grades are excellent candidates for parts used in the food processing and equipment industries.

Ertalyte® is a proprietary, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester based on polyethylene terephthalate (PETP).

The unique properties of Ertalyte® offers good chemical and abrasion resistance whilst its low moisture absorption enables mechanical and electrical properties to remain virtually unaffected by moisture.

Main properties of Ertalyte® sheet, rod and tube are:

High mechanical strength, stiffness and hardness

Very good creep resistance

Low and constant coefficient of friction

Excellent wear resistance (comparable with or even better than nylon grades)

Very good dimensional stability (better than polyacetal)

Excellent stain resistance

Better resistance to acids than nylon and polyacetal

Good electrical insulating properties

Physiologically inert (suitable for food contact)

Good resistance to high energy radiation (gamma and X-rays)

2. What is Ertalyte® PETP ?

Ertalyte®PETP is an unreinforced, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester based on polyethylene terephthalate (PETP). It is characterised as having the best dimensional stability coupled with excellent wear resistance, a low coefficient of friction, high strength, and resistance to moderately acidic solutions - making it especially suitable for the manufacture of precision mechanical parts, capable of sustaining high loads and enduring wear conditions.

Ertalyte®PETP is FDA compliant in natural and black. Ertalyte® is an excellent candidate for parts used in the food processing and equipment industries.

3. What is Ertalyte® TX ?

Ertalyte® TX is a PET compound incorporating a uniformly dispersed solid lubricant. Its specific formulation yields a premium, internally lubricated bearing-grade. Ertalyte® TX has not only an outstanding wear resistance, but offers in comparison with Ertalyte® an even lower coefficient of friction and excels under both high pressure and velocity conditions. It is also ideally suited for applications involving soft metal and plastic mating surfaces.
