Saint-Gobain Rulon Classification and Applications

Rulon series material is a high-end fluoroplastic, a PTFE-based co-blended resin developed and produced by Saint-Gobain in France. It is suitable for processing bearings, bushings, stamped bowls and seal assemblies.

Characteristics: low friction, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and maintenance-free.

The products are widely used in oil and gas, automotive, life sciences and aerospace applications.

Rulon series materials processed bearings, bushings and a series of sealing components are characterized by chemical resistance, high temperature resistance, wear resistance, etc., and have a strong service life.

RULON

Material grades
Color Characterizations
Application
Rulon®AR Light maroon
Flexible for Rulon®LR
Sealing and adhering to the surface of slide rails, for axle seals in automobiles and for fuel dosing pump bowls.
Rulon®LR
Maroon
Extremely chemically stable
Suitable for friction with most hard steels, can also be used with low hardness steels, runs better on harder surfaces.
Rulon®J
Dull gold
Excellent friction properties
Excellent in 316 stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastics and other low hardness surfaces, ideal for bearings and wear parts.
Rulon®641
White
FDA approved material, excellent load bearing and wear resistance
Suitable for many mating surfaces, including low hardness steel, 303 and 316 stainless steel and hard materials, ideal for bearings in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Rulon®W2
Black
Low friction, wear resistance and good heat dissipation properties
DVGW certified material for contact with potable water. Suitable for use with most metals and soft surfaces
Rulon®123
Black
Average abrasion resistance, excellent chemical resistance
FDA, USDA, NSF certified materials, price is a little lower, long-term use will have black debris, not suitable for the need for electrical insulation occasions. Avoid ultra-dry and vacuum applications.
Rulon®488
Dark green
Ultra-low wear in extremely dry environments
Widely used as shaft sleeve in drying equipment
Rulon®957
Spots of inlaid green
High load-bearing capacity
Noise-reducing and low-wear materials, widely used in commercial and residential dryers
Rulon®XL
Brown
Resistant to abrasion, not easily deformed under load, excellent chemical resistance
Suitable for most mating surfaces, avoid alkaline environments, best material for vacuum applications.
Rulon®142
Dark blue-green
Low wear, high heat dissipation and good dimensional stability
The non-deformable properties greatly reduce the non-axiality that may occur when used as a bearing material, making it ideal for use in machine tools and avoiding use in strong acidic and alkaline environments.
Rulon®945
Black

Loads are not susceptible to wear or deformation

Suitable for hardened surfaces, e.g. hardened steel, not suitable for environments where electrical insulation properties are required

Rulon®1045
Dark gold
Chemical Resistant, Ductile & Friction Resistant
For use on bearings or sliding surfaces
Rulon®1337
Brown FDA food and drug approved for most chemicals except concentrated sulfuric acid

Used in food and pharmaceutical processing equipment parts

Rulon®1410
Gold
Excellent ductility and tensile strength
Suitable for seals and other flexible seals
