The difference between teflon and Polytetrafluoroethylene

ptfe-1

PVDF is Polyvinylidene fluoride, which is slightly worse than F4 and F46, with low temperature resistance and slightly poor corrosion resistance (the price is much cheaper than F4 and F46).

PTFE (F4) is polytetrafluoroethylene, which has good temperature and corrosion resistance, and can withstand the corrosion of any medium. The color is absolutely white. It is generally used for fluorine-lined pipes, valves, seals, rods, etc.

FEP (F46) is polyperfluoroethylene propylene, the color is transparent, and its corrosion resistance is equivalent to that of PTFE. It is generally used for fluorine-lined pumps or perfluorinated pumps. PFA tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkoxy vinyl ether copolymer (also known as : Perfluoroalkyl compound, soluble polytetrafluoroethylene) F4+F46=F50 is fluoroplastic alloy, which is also often used in fluoroplastic pumps, and the two are used together to increase wear resistance.

The chemical properties of PFAFEPPTFE are similar, but FEP can only be used below 200 degrees, and PTFE cannot be injection molded.

Teflon is called Polytetrafluoroetylene in English, referred to as Teflon, PTFE, F4 Teflon is divided into PTFE, FEP, PFA, ETFE

Several basic types:

Teflon PTFE:

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) non-stick coating can be used continuously at 260°C, with a maximum service temperature of 290-300°C, extremely low coefficient of friction, good wear resistance and excellent chemical stability.

Teflon FEP:

FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) non-stick coating melts and flows to form a non-porous film during baking. It has excellent chemical stability and excellent non-stick properties. The maximum use temperature is 200°C

Teflon PFA:

PFA (perfluoroalkyl) non-stick coatings, like FEP, melt and flow to form a non-porous film during baking. The advantage of PFA is that it has a higher continuous use temperature of 260°C, stronger rigidity and toughness, and is especially suitable for anti-sticking and chemical resistance applications under high temperature conditions.

Teflon ETFE:

ETFE is a copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene, the toughest fluoropolymer that forms a highly durable coating with excellent chemical resistance and can withstand temperatures up to 150°C work continuously.
